On August 20, 1977, a NASA rocket launched this unmanned 1,820-pound spacecraft, from Cape Canaveral, Florida. It was the first of two such crafts to be launched that year on a "Grand Tour" of the outer planets, organized to coincide with a rare alignment of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

the viking spacecraft? that's off the top of my head...
on second thought i don't think that's right because the viking went to mars, or so my brain is recollecting.... maybe it was the galileo since he 'discovered' [this word always seems inappropriate to me for any scientific postulate] the moons of jupiter
